I am so excited to begin another school year! I am now beginning my sixth year at Field Elementary. I am looking forward to a great year. I think this year will be the best ever! I have high expectations for your child and will strive to make the learning in the classroom fun and memorable! I have taught preschool, second, third, and fourth grade throughout my eighteen years of teaching. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy.
I am originally from Iowa but have been in Kentucky for over 20 years now. I have been married to my husband, an English high school teacher for 16 years, and have two beautiful daughters, one who is 5th grade, and the other, who is in 8th.
My family has two dogs, a rat terrier named Kayla, and a black lab, named Jules. In the classroom we have a class pet, a rat named Cottonball, who is very friendly and loves to be fed food scraps from the cafeteria. In the past, she has gone home with students, and if you are interested, all you need to do is to let me know and I will arrange a "home visit".
The theme of our classroom is pirates and the classroom is pretty much decorated in a pirate theme. As pirates we go on many adventures and have to use many skills and strategies to learn and be safe. I look forward to teaching your child and always encourage fun and learning that is meaningful. I always encourage communication. In your child's agenda you will find information how you can contact me.
I can't wait to go on many sea-faring adventures with your child and explore all there is to learn! This will be an absolutely awesome year! Ahoy Matey's!!!
